GTA 6 PC System Requirements
- •Rockstar has published no official PC requirements, and no PC release date exists yet.
- •The consoles are the design target: PS5 and Xbox Series X|S are what the game is actually built for.
- •Xbox Series S sets the practical floor, so a modest PC should eventually run it at lower settings.
- •Plan for roughly 150 GB of SSD space. An SSD is effectively mandatory rather than a nice-to-have.
- •Everything below the console specs is our estimate, not a specification. Treat it as planning, not fact.
Why there are no official specs yet
Rockstar publishes PC requirements close to a PC release, and GTA 6 does not have one. The console version lands November 19, 2026, and PC is confirmed only as coming later. History suggests a real gap: GTA 5 reached PC roughly eighteen months after its console debut, and Red Dead Redemption 2 took about a year. Any spec sheet circulating now is somebody's guess, including ours — the difference is that we are saying so.
What the consoles tell us
This is the most useful signal available. PS5 and Xbox Series X pair an eight-core Zen 2 CPU around 3.5 GHz with an RDNA 2 GPU in the 10 to 12 teraflop range, 16 GB of shared GDDR6 memory, and a fast NVMe SSD. Xbox Series S is the interesting one, because it is the weakest machine Rockstar has committed to supporting: about 4 teraflops and roughly 8 GB of usable memory. If the game has to run there, a mid-range PC will manage it at reduced settings.
Tip: The SSD matters more than usual. These consoles stream world data continuously, and games designed around that assumption tend to stutter badly on mechanical drives.
Our estimate for a minimum PC
As a planning figure, expect something in the region of a six-core CPU such as a Ryzen 5 3600 or Intel i5-10400, 16 GB of system RAM, and an 8 GB graphics card in the RTX 3060 or RX 6600 class for 1080p at lower settings. We would be unsurprised if 16 GB of RAM turns out to be the floor rather than comfortable, given the consoles have 16 GB shared between system and graphics.
Our estimate for a comfortable PC
For 1440p at high settings with stable frame pacing, plan around an eight-core CPU, 32 GB of RAM, and a 12 GB card in the RTX 4070 or RX 7800 XT class. Open-world Rockstar games have historically punished CPUs harder than most titles because of dense NPC and traffic simulation, so do not overspend on the GPU while leaving a weak processor in place.
Should you upgrade now?
No, and this is the practical answer the spec sheets miss. The PC release is more than a year away on any realistic timeline, and hardware bought now will be a generation behind by the time you can use it. If you want to play GTA 6 as early as possible, a console is the cheaper and more certain route. If you want to play it best, wait for the actual requirements and buy against them.
