GTA 6 Gameplay vs Trailers: What We Still Have Not Seen
T
By Trailer WatchA common question after every Rockstar trailer: "Is that gameplay?" The accurate answer for GTA 6 so far is in-engine cinematic — real graphics on target hardware, but directed like a movie rather than captured from a player holding a controller.
What "in-engine cinematic" means
Characters, lighting, and physics run on PS5/Series X-class hardware. Camera moves, edits, and some animations are authored for trailer pacing. That is how Rockstar has marketed since GTA 5 — and it usually matches final graphics quality closely.
Systems we have glimpsed
- Driving on highways, beaches, and swamp roads
- Boats, jet skis, and airboats on water
- Crowd density in clubs and street festivals
- Wildlife (alligators, birds) in wetlands
- Social media UI overlays reacting to chaos
Systems still unseen
- On-foot shooting and cover mechanics
- Heist planning or mission structure UI
- Character switch during player control
- Wanted level escalation and police tactics
- Property buying, businesses, or stock market
- Any GTA 6 Online footage
When gameplay will likely appear
Historically Rockstar saves extended gameplay for a late trailer or a dedicated preview event. With November 2026 locked, expect a Trailer 3 or summer preview to show 5–10 uninterrupted minutes — still curated, but clearly playable.
